One of the most adventurous things to do
during New Zealand holidays is to ski.
Whether considered as a sport or just a
hobby, skiing is pursued by most people to
have some fun and recreation in the snow.
Here are a few ideas to make your New
Zealand ski vacation a success.
Firstly, be aware of the timeliness of the
ski vacation you are planning. Of course a
good reminder to those unfamiliar to skiing
is to go to a ski resort during winter.
Winter time in this country is from May up
to October. However, the fields are normally
open to public access from July up to
October, though some fields start to open as
early as June. Regarding the ski field
lifts, they open at around nine in the
morning and close at four in the afternoon.
Only a few fields offer night skiing.
Furthermore, with respect to the clothes to
wear, remember to always bring thick
sweaters and jackets. Be sure that your
entire body is clothed in layers. The usage
of hats and gloves is recommended. People
can choose to bring gear such as skis,
snowboards and boots, but they can also rent
them in the fields.
With regard to transportation, visitors can
use rental cars or to ride in shuttles and
similar types of public transport on the way
to the ski fields.
Moving on, guests also have the option of
the lift pass type to acquire. Individuals
who would like to spend a lot of time in the
snow can purchase a multiday lift pass,
while those who would like to consider
skiing as just one activity among other
adventures can get a single lift pass. There
are also lift passes for children, so
parents can bring their kids along. Finally,
with regard to cost, lift passes are priced
at around 30 to 70 New Zealand dollars,
depending on the length of stay in the
field. |
